Round 8 &ndash Triumph Cup, Snetterton

Handling problems at Snett

A bright but blustery practise day saw no-one matching there times from earlier in the year, the majority of the riders had problems with the RHS of the tyres bobbling and AJ ended up 11th place on the grid.

Saturday came with a lot more sunshine and a lot less wind - which was great! No-one improved on their times in the morning practise and in Superpole saw Gary Thwaites take a big tumble at the Esses on the first lap forcing the red flags to come out. Having had not the best start, AJ came round in 10th place after the first lap. Unfortunately as the race was reduced to five laps, he was unable to catch the guys in front - but no one could catch him either! He finished the race 10th overall and 8th in Young Guns

Sunday was nice and sunny, but a lot breezier and cooler than Saturday. Once again, AJ didn't have the best of starts in Race 1, but was up to 8th place after the first lap - and 6th by the third! Unfortunately he was caught and overtaken by Tim Jones, who then went on to take Jack Sim. Despite the best of efforts, AJ wasn't able to catch Jack - but again others were not able to gain on him. Another lonely race saw him finish in 7th place on the track, 5th place in Young Guns with his best time of the weekend.

Race 2 saw AJ off to a good start, but lady luck was not on his side as the bike hit a false neutral for the first time in a race, allowing others to come by. He managed to claw his way back into 10th place overall, but Josh Caygill managed to get past him and rode defensively to protect his place on the track.

A frustrating weekend for AJ, who did so well at this circuit earlier in the year, although his times reflected others we feel that our lack of knowledge on suspension set up is holding us back.

AJ, having escaped away to the sun for a few days, is now looking forward to the final races at Brands this weekend. Currently sitting in eighth place in the championship with 100 points still up for grabs, it's going to be an interesting weekend!

Set your video to watch all the action on MotorsTV - Saturday 29th September at 11.00am. Don't forget to check the schedule, as timings are liable to change! Better still - come and see AJ in action for yourself at Brands! We'd love to see you.
